The RE Adviser for Schools is able to offer assistance to schools and their clergy in matters concerning Religious Education, Collective Worship and Church School life:

  • Preparing Church Schools for SIAS Inspections which run in tandem with OFSTED Inspections.
  • In-service Training for teachers and/or governors.
  • Writing programmes of study for RE. Sharing teaching ideas.
  • Preparing policy documents for Collective Worship and RE.
  • Exploring spiritual and moral development across the curriculum.
  • Developing a school's Statement of Purpose/Mission Statement.
  • Running termly RE Primary Liaison Groups throughout the Diocese.
    (Southern Peterborough, March, West Norfolk, Wisbech, Ely, Sawtry, Linton, Cambridge, St Neots.)
  • A selection of school resources from the Resources Centre at the Diocesan Office, is available at the termly RE meetings and may be taken to individual schools on request.
  • There are annual festivals for Church Schools at the Cathedral each October.
  • Each Church School is supported by a Bishop's School Visitor.
Ely Cathedral (see Cathedral Education Centre details below)
offers activities and trails for all key stages in RE and can support work in PSHE and spiritual development. Visits are tailored to schools' needs. Written materials are for sale, including KS3 workpacks. The Cathedral Centre offers a well-equipped classroom and large meeting room to support school visits.
