The Interfaith Education Centre was founded to support schools in teaching their local Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education and also to support weekly separate faith worship for Christian, Hindu, Muslim and Sikh pupils in Bradford LEA schools.
A team of professional Faith Tutors representing local Christian, Hindu, Muslim and Sikh communities support local schools and also host visits from schools and organisations outside Bradford, particularly to Bradford's many places of worship. Access to Buddhist and Jewish communities is available through associate staff.
The Interfaith Education Centre houses a bookshop, a library and loans service for subscribing schools and individuals and produces its own publications relating to our community's religions, these include a DVD series on Sacred Spaces and a GPS local heritage trail.
The Centre is part of the Diversity and Cohesion team of Education Bradford and contributes to community cohesion through a variety of projects which promote an appreciation of the richness of the religious and cultural heritage of the district.
